Magdelenas/Muffins/Cupcakes
While the cupcake craze has come and faded in the states in the last few years, the Spanish are just starting to get into it. Not only is the designer cupcake new here but also cupcakes in general. This standard for every 1st graders classroom birthday, is making its first real appearance here in Madrid. As if it is not bad enough that Spaniards have been missing out on cupcakes for all this time, they also do not have a word for them! They are most commonly called "Magdelenas" or "Muffins" (which is the litteral translation of Magdelena) but I am trying to get all my Spanish friends to call them cupcakes all the same! These are the CUPCAKES Luisa and I made today
