While the weather here is no where near what is going on with Sandy, I am still a California girl. With temperatures in the mid 40's and pouring rain I am completely out of my element... literally. This is how I left the house today...

In keeping with the Halloween theme this is my own bubbling brew that we are having for dinner tonight!!

The News From Spain

I have my first official job as an English Teacher!!! I start on Tuesday and will be teaching 5 year old twins Tuesdays and Thursdays, and I am hopeful that I will be able to get a few more families in that area as well. Also next weekend Tommy and I are off to Geneva for our first trip! Here is this great coffee shop we stopped in today to get out of the rain in El Barrio Chueca.

It's Raining, It's Pouring, The Old Man is Snoring

My friend Hannah and I got lucky today and during a break in the rain went on a walk through most of the neighborhoods of Madrid. As we were getting ready to head home it literally starts pouring! An omen no doubt that it was time to head home.

A Picture a Day

Now that I am in Madrid it would be impossible to escape without adventure, so I have decided that I will post at least one picture per day while I am gone. This way I take more pictures, my family knows I am alive, and I have a record for when my memory fails me. Here is my first picture....

Falling Leaves

One of the things we miss out on the most living in Southern California is Fall; changing leaves, sweaters, and scarves all are few and far between. So today we went through Retiro Park and got to see all the trees with their changing colors. I cannot believe how beautiful the weather has been!!!

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas!!

OK so far totally failing at getting a post up everyday!! I will get there eventually ( I hope!).

As most of you know, for me the Christmas season extends way beyond the day after Thanksgiving to December 25th. I personally start playing Christmas music before Halloween, and it looks like this year Spain has decided to encourage this. This is what I was greeted with when I arrived at Al Campo to do my grocery shopping...


As if the Christmas decorations wasn't good enough we also got our Christmas Tree!

Say Hello to My Little Friend

Upon my arrival in the apartment I was struck by some of the home decor choices the previous tenant had gifted us, but by far the most ridiculous/funny/out of place (take your pick) is the shower curtain...

So after getting into the shower I turn around to find this little guy...

Needless to say I screamed as if those bloody handprints were mine, I am surprised the new neighbors didn't come over to see what was so scary.
